How to get to Elafonissos?

KTEL buses transfer you to Neapoli in Lakonia. From this point, you need to take another bus for Pounta port. Bus routes are carried out from Athens, Tripolis and Kalamata. For further information, you can check on www.ktelattikis.gr, www.ktel-lakonias.gr and www.ktelmessinias.gr.

Visitors can reach Elafonissos by car or bus. You should follow the route to Tripoli and Sparti. After Sparti, you need to reach Monemvasia and then follow the route to Molaous region. Your final destination will be Pounta, a port near Neapolis in southern Peloponnese. From this point, you need to embark on the ferry to Elafonissos with your car. The ferries to Elafonissos are very frequent and the trip is only 10 min.

There is no airport in Elafonissos. The closest airport is found at the neighboring island of Kythira, which receives internal flights from Athens all year round and other Greek destinations in summer, such as Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Aktion and more. From Kythira, you take the ferry to Neapolis port in Laconia and from Neapolis (port of Pounta), you take another ferry to Elafonissos island.

There is no ferry from Elafonissos to Piraeus. The ferries to Elafonissos leave from Pounta, a port close to Neapolis Laconia. The trip from Pounta to Elafonissos takes about 10 minutes and the ferries operate almost every half an hour, all year round. There are ferries that carry only passengers and ferries that carry both passengers and vehicles. In any case, the schedules are very frequent and tickets can be bought on the spot before the ferry departure.
