KTEL Buses in Zakynthos

Below, you can find all the needed information about buses in Zakynthos:
Getting to your destinationFrequency • Routes

Public buses (KTEL) are the only public means of transport in Zakynthos. They are the least expensive option for moving from one area to another during your stay. Itineraries are more frequent in the summer months.
For visitors who plan on exploring the island and visiting more than just the touristy spots, renting a car is recommended.

Zakynthos is renowned for its charming landscape and azure-colored waters. The local bus network is designed to serve visitors and allow them to reach the most famous areas/beaches on the island.
Timetables change throughout the year, depending on the season. Itineraries are not so frequent during the low and shoulder season, yet more are added during summer.
From Zakynthos, travelers can also book a ticket to intercity destinations, including Athens, Thessaloniki and Patra.

Getting to your destination

The central bus station is located in Zakynthos Town. Most buses that head to the busiest points on the island depart from there.
Note that bus drivers avoid stopping at stops where people do not usually get off. If your destination is not the terminal of the route or one of the touristy spots, it is recommended to inform the driver in advance so that you do not miss your stop.

Frequency

The timetables are uploaded on the official website of KTEL Zakynthos.
Important Notice: Itineraries are subject to change. Sometimes, instead of updating the "Routes" section, they upload a PDF file with the routes for the current period in the "Announcements" section. If you want to be sure about the schedules, it is advisable to contact them via phone or email in advance.
