Placed in the center of the traditional Mylopotamos village, the restaurant/tavern of Platanos preserves the classic tavern-like aesthetics and recipes of Greek cuisine, boasting a history spanning over a hundred years.
Getting its name from the plane trees that provide their natural shade to the establishment, Platanos is situated in a picturesque stone-paved square, ready to serve you warm food at all times! The menu is full of homemade recipes based around premium quality meat cuts, such as pork tenderloin, chicken filets, and a pot-roasted giouvetsi with veal. In addition, the tavern features pasta dishes, seafood, and some vegetarian options, too! It is important to note that most servings in Platanos are created using locally-sourced ingredients, while the tavern always aims for fulfilling portions at an affordable price tag.
Besides main meals, Platanos also offers breakfast a la carte (like an omelet and fried eggs) along with coffee drinks from early in the morning! Try their homemade syrupy desserts after your main course is done and taste local house wine, top-tier tsipouro drinks, or a branded Greek beer. Furthermore, a Kytherian folk exhibition is hosted in Platanos’ interior, showcasing artifacts, pottery designs, old hand mills, and hand-knitted place mats underneath the building’s traditional old roof! Plus, access to Wi-Fi is free-of-charge, and visitors will find plenty of parking space near Platanos.
The tavern is open daily during the high season!
