Katelios Kefalonia: Katelios is a lovely beach and one of the most picturesque villafes of Kefalonia that lies 29 km away from Argostoli, the main town between Skala and Lourda. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation. The beach is not a tourist resort but a relaxing spot with lush green hills that provide a beautiful backdrop. It is a protected area and tourist facilities are not allowed here. The coast is much preferred for long walks and sunbathing. At the main road of Katelios you will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish taverns.
A stroll around the village that lies amidst lush green forests with olive groves and lush vegetation in the green valley is quite interesting and refreshing, especially for the nature lovers who will surely appreciate such an experience. Some of the historical sights you shall visit is the impressive church of the Virgin and the tiny village of Markopoulos which is built amphithetrically on a high altitude with a perfect view to the Ionian sea.
There are many different ways to get to Katelios from any location on the island.
Airport to Katelios: 27.7 km / 17.2 miles | Sami Port to Katelios: 35 km / 21.7 miles | Argostoli to Katelios: 29 km / 18 miles
Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked Kefalonia transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from the airport, port or your hotel. Alternatively, there’s the option of arranging a pickup by a local driver directly at the following numbers: 0030 694 5306 145, 0030 694 5118 866, 0030 697 7193 569 or book your taxi online.
Car rental: Τhere’s the option of renting a car in Kefalonia with as little as 11 euros per day and pick it up directly from the airport, port or your hotel. Using a car rental allows visitors to discover Katelios and many other places of interest in Kefalonia at their own pace.
By Public transfers: The central bus station of the island is located at Argostoli. There are buses from Argostoli to Ammes during the day. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
From Airport to Katelios: There’s a bus station outside the airport building. There are several buses from the airport to Katelios during the day. Check the official timetables of the route Airport > Argostoli here.
From Sami Port to Katelios: There’s a bus station at the main port of Kefalonia, Sami. There are few buses from Sami to Katelios during the day. Check the official timetables of the route Sami > Argostoli here.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop in every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination, so that he makes a stop there.
