General information

Located around 8 kilometers from Skala, on the island’s northeastern coast, Lambi is a long beach with shady tamarisks, famous for its rare colorful pebbles. In fact, its very name, which means “sparkling”, comes from the shimmering azure waters and the way in which the pebbles sparkle in the sunlight. The rock formations on the right side of the beach are equally impressive.

Lambi is not organized, but, along the shore, visitors will find a beach bar and a nice tavern serving fresh fish, as well as a variety of other mouthwatering dishes and appetizers, including its famous saganaki cheese flambéed with vermouth. It is easily reachable both by car and boat from Patmos Port, but it might be a good idea to consult the weather forecast before setting off, as the sea can get quite choppy when the wind blows from the north.

For the preservation of the beach’s unique natural beauty, it is important to observe the instructions on the signposts and not take any pebbles back home as a souvenir. Indeed, the number of these pebbles has sadly been reduced over the last years, so their removal is now forbidden by law.
