How to get to Nisyros?

There is a ferry connection between Nisyros and Athens, as ferries depart from Piraeus port about 2 times a week.
However, the trip is quite long and it lasts approximately 17 hours. If you are traveling from Athens to Nisyros, then it might be more convenient for you to reach Kos or Rhodes by plane and then travel to Nisyros by ferry.
Apart from Athens, Kos and Rhodes, Nisyros is also connected by ferry with Tilos.

There is no airport on the small island of Nisyros. The closest one is located in Kos.
Kos International Airport "Hippocrates" receives domestic flights all year round mainly from Athens. Flights from Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Heraklion and Astypalea are carried out frequently, too.
During summer, the airport is connected with some European countries as well. The flight time from Athens to Kos is estimated around 1 hour.
From Kos, you can easily reach Nisyros by ferry. The distance between them is short and the itineraries frequent.
However, you should take a taxi for your transfer to the port, since the airport is located 24 km away from Kos Town.
There is also a public bus that carries out routes between the airport and Kos Town. You will find its bus stop really close to the airport's entrance, about 50 meters away.
