Syrianopato is a traditional dance festival with the goal of promoting Greek heritage to locals and visitors and cultivating a love for tradition for the younger generations. It was established in 2018 and returns for its 5th edition this year from June 29 to July 2.
It takes place in Ermoupolis, the capital of Syros island, in two different venues. The charming Apollon Theater was founded in 1864 and hosts many cultural events important to the island and the Ionian as a whole. Additionally, events will be happening in Miaouli Square, the central square of the town.
Dance teams of children, teens and adults from Greece and Cyprus can participate in the festival, but anyone can attend it. Apart from the dance showcases, other events include feasts, workshops and guided tours of Ermoupolis. The festivities are accompanied by live music from a local orchestra.
