Location: Filoti

Fasolas is a small neighborhood in Filoti and once used to be the center of the village's social and commercial life. The paved alleys were surrounded by small shops selling products and offering services. Unfortunately, the place fell into despair.

The Fasolas project focuses on restoring and reviving small businesses for the new generations and the visitors of Naxos to see how everyday local life was a few decades ago.
This effort, with a small financial help from third parties, was an initiative of Mr. Nikolaos Moustakis who, when he retired from his profession, allocated part of the compensation he received to help his birthplace align with the economic and modern demands of individual and social life.

A series of shops carefully restored and decorated with vintage furniture is open to the public and more will be added soon.
Wandering around Fasolas, you have the chance to visit a grocery shop, a barber shop, a tailor shop, a smithy, and a carpenter shop.
When you finish your walk, you can sit and enjoy a coffee or a drink at the local "kafeneio".

The project also aims to restore the heel bar, a traditional house, and a thresher (consisting of an oven and two windmills), which will fully operate and bake bread made out of wheat cultivated by locals, as in the past.

Access to the shops is free of charge and all earrings from the cafe support the project.

How to get there

The Fasolas project is located in Filoti Village.

Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus, or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from the port, airport, or your hotel. Alternatively, there’s the option of arranging a pickup by a local driver directly at the following numbers: 0030 22850 25835, 0030 22850 24829, or booking your taxi online.

Car rental: Τhere's the option of renting a car in Naxos and picking it up directly from the airport, port, or your hotel. Using a rental car allows visitors to discover Fasolas project and many other places of interest at their own pace.

Public transport: The central bus station of the island is located at the Port of Naxos. There are several buses from Chora to Filoti during the day. Lines 2 and 6 reach Filoti. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop at every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination in advance.

    Amazing!
Walked through Filoti after leaving Mt Zas and decided to sit down at Fasolas for a beverage. Sophia brought us our drinks and some olives. Finally refreshed, we recognized the charm of the area and decided to order some food and more drinks. I wish I remembered the name of the goat dish we ordered, because it was amazing. Texture, taste, and presentation were all there. Following the meal, Andreas shared some local history and recommended a few places to see. After a week on Naxos, our experience at Fasolas remains our favorite. We plan to return soon.

    Impressive work
Mr. Moustakis himself gave us a tour of this neighborhood in 2022. His work is impressive, and he is a passionate advocate of historical accuracy. He is dedicated to the heritage of Naxos and all of Greece. What a treasure he is, and what a treasure his work has become!
