Rethymno Town Beach

General information

The endless Rethymno Beach is covered in soft, golden sand and boasts shallow waters. It is often crowded, due to its proximity to the town center, and fully organized, with plenty of facilities including sunbeds, umbrellas, and changing rooms. Along the coast, you will find plenty of hotels, cafes, restaurants, and beach bars, while water sports facilities are also available.

Every year, Caretta-Caretta turtles visit Rethymno Beach to lay their eggs. In fact, more than 400 nests are found every year on the Rethymno Gulf, making it one of the most vital nesting locations for these sea turtles.
