General information

Mochlos is located 33 km east of Agios Nikolaos, off the main road to Sitia. With peaceful surroundings and hospitable residents, it remains a quiet resort, untouched by mass tourism.

Mochlos was first inhabited in antiquity, while the islet of Agios Nikolaos, which lies just opposite the village, used to have a significant port during the Minoan era; to see the ruins of the ancient harbor, you can either swim to the islet or catch a boat from the village. Other sights in the vicinity of the village include traces of an ancient quarry, as well as several Minoan tombs that look like rectangular residences.

This fishing village is ideal for peaceful holidays and offers a nice opportunity to feel closer to nature. The area boasts some magnificent rocky beaches, such as the one that stretches right in front of the settlement or the nearby Limenaria, while visitors will also find great seaside taverns.
