Heraklion shopping

Heraklion shopping

Shopping in Heraklion is a great pastime. Most shops are found in Heraklion Town and particularly in the Old Town. The main shopping street there is 1886 Street, a paved path lined up with souvenir shops as well as stores with clothes, shoes, books and traditional products. In fact, buying traditional products, such as raki, wine, herbs or sweets, are great souvenirs and gifts to take back home from your holidays.

Although the main town is the center for Heraklion shopping, the villages of the region also has local mini-markets with fruits, vegetables and dairy to cover the needs of visitors. Here are some shops in Heraklion. Each shop is presented with detailed text, photos and point on Google map. All request forms go directly to the shop manager.

Pretty blossoms, presented to us this spring by our sole plum tree, are captured against a cloudy, Cretan sky, while, close by, the little chapel of St. Irene, remains a permanent, picturesque presence.
Freesia, my fabulous zygomorphic beauty, a single stem of your mini suns lights up the entire Cretan sky! Your sweet, citrus-y scent freshens the air, throughout the hilly countryside, making it a perfumed paradise!
An aloe vera plantation plays with pattern.
I pass this vineyard every day, in the autumn, sometimes on a leisurely stroll, other times on a brisk walk. Regardless, its morphing colours and changing textures always make me pause, for grape leaves are to Crete, what maple leaves are to Canada, in the fall.
On a mid morning walk, powdery pink petals of the young almond tree in the foreground, lured us towards an unknown path.
