Places to eat and drink in Heraklion are found all around the prefecture, both in tourist resorts and in secluded villages. It is common for both travelers and locals to prefer a seaside place to eat and drink on sunny summer days. Yet, some lovely establishments are nestled in the alleys of the town and more secluded traditional villages.
Heraklion Town is surely the place with the most restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs. Many bars and clubs are also found in the tourist areas, like Malia, Stalis, and Hersonissos, while the not-so-tourist regions are more tranquil. Agia Pelagia, Matala, Lentas and other tourist places of Heraklion have a more family atmosphere and mainly have restaurants, cafeterias and bars with a laid-back atmosphere.
