A celebration of sports for all people irrespective of their fitness, the 8th annual Marathon of Crete will guide participants through an array of key points in Chania Town on the 14th of April, 2024!

This year’s event, in a similar fashion to the 2023 Crete Marathon, has four races: the 2.5km race, the 5km race, the 10km race, and the Marathon, with the start and finish point of each race being the National Sports Center of Chania!

The first one to start at 07:30 is the Marathon race (dedicated to the metropolitan priest Ireneos Galanakis), where runners must be at least 18 years of age, with a maximum finishing time of 6 hours!
Then, the 10km race, in remembrance of the late airplane captain Costas Iliakis, will start at around 08:00, having participants born up until 2009 and a set max time of 1 hour and 30 minutes!
Starting at 09:00, the 5km race (honoring the great composer Mikis Theodorakis) has a maximum time limit of 1 hour and is for people up to 10 years old. In contrast, minor racers should provide a signed paper from their respective guardians!
Lastly, the 2.5km race is a great entry-level sprint for everyone, as anyone above 5 years old can take part in it!

The top three finishers in men’s and women’s categories for the Marathon, the 10km, and the 5km races will be given a medal and a diploma, while commemorative medals will be handed to all participants who finish their race!
