Crete Marathon 2023

The 7th annual Crete marathon, hosted in the town of Chania, will be officially taking place on May 7th, 2023. Consisting of 4 races, it has cemented its place as a yearly happening for testing your stamina and body control, ideal for adults and teenagers.

Crete Marathon 2023’s main event, the Marathon Race, starts at 07.00 from the Orthodox Academy of Crete to commemorate the late Metropolitan Irineos Galanakis, with the finish line being at the National Sports Center of Chania. All participants have to be at least 18 years of age & the maximum time limit is 6 hours after your individual starting time.
The 10km Road Race of 2023 is dedicated to heroic captain Costas Iliakis. This marathon event is divided into two groups, starting at 07:00 - 07:40 & 08:10 - 08:50, respectively. The start & finish line is at the National Sports Center of Chania, and the maximum time limit is an hour & 30 minutes. Contestants need to be at least 15 years old. 
Next, the 5km Road Race, dedicated to the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922, has its start and finish point at the National Sports Center of Chania & you can start anywhere between 11:40 - 12:20. One may not arrive later than 11:40, plus participants have to be 12 or older to take place in this race. The maximum time limit is one hour after your start!
Lastly, the 2.5km Road Race splits into two starting groups; group A starts around 09:20 - 10:00, and group B starts at 10:30 - 11:10. All racers must be born before 2016 in order to take part. There is no time limit in this race.

The top three in finishes will be awarded a diploma paper & a medal, while the first man & first woman in each of the Marathon, 10km, and 5km races will receive a winner’s cup. Also, symbolic medals & memorabilia will be given to every runner that finishes their race.
