General information

Drapanias Beach is located 35 km west of Chania Town, between Korfalonas and Nopigia Beach. It has been named after the nearby village of the same name, which lies further inland, just 1 kilometer from the beach.

It is characterized by clear blue waters and a combination of sand and pebble, but the sea often tends to be choppy as it is exposed to the northern winds. The beach is organized, with umbrellas and showers, while Drapanias village offers several options in terms of bars, taverns and accommodation with a view to Kissamos Gulf. There are also two organized campsites near the settlement.

Drapanias is close to the ruins of an ancient Minoan settlement and the ancient town of Mythimna. To the west lies the village of Kokkino Metochi, which is known for the ruins of the imposing Venetian mansion of Trevisan.
