General information

Finikas is a small remote beach located around 80 km south of Chania Town. The area is quite isolated and the closest village is Loutro, in the area of Sfakia. Its name derives from the ancient town of Phoenix, which was the port of Anopolis.

Within the port, you will find a beautiful pebbled beach with deep blue waters, whose rocky seabed is ideal for snorkeling and spearfishing. Finikas is partly organized, with umbrellas, sunbeds and canoes. From here, you can go on a boat trip to Loutro or the secluded Marmara beach that stretches at the exit of Aradena Gorge. Near Finikas Beach, you will find a picturesque little tavern, as well as some rental rooms. However, even more options are available at the nearby Loutro.

The most common way to get there is by taking a caique boat from Chora Sfakion or Loutro. The E4 European Long Distance Path, which joins Marmara Beach and Loutro, also passes by Finikas.
