Athens Rumble in the Jungle Club in Syntagma

Rumble in the Jungle is a hidden bar-club in the center of Athens, located behind an unmarked door in the back of another establishment, named the Bar in Front of the Bar. Rumble in the Jungle is described as a speakeasy bar, like the ones from the Prohibition era in the United States, since in order to enter, visitors need to know its hidden location or a secret password.

The club is decorated with neon signs and artificial foliage, reminiscent of an actual jungle. The name, however, derived from the classic boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, with its location in the heart of Africa, in Zaire. The theme of the club, besides from an actual jungle, is based on the historic fight with pictures all over its walls and signature cocktails with references to the fight and the sport. Rumble in the Jungle also hosts a variety of different parties with DJs from all over the city!

One of the club’s signature cocktails is Below the Belt, with Calvados Brandy, bitter, sweet vermouth and black pepper. Another specialty is Her Scent, an aromatic cocktail with three different flavored types of Vodka. All drinks are made with premium ingredients from Greece, while the bartenders have adopted a zero-waste mentality, using every part of their ingredients!
