Location: Town

Upon reaching the island of Spetses, you are immediately greeted by the impressive statue of Laskarina Bouboulina, a naval commander who firmly supported the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s. She is said to be the first woman to attain the rank of admiral in the Russian Navy.

This bronze statue was sculpted by Natalia Mela and was unveiled in 1985. The heroine is depicted barefoot, scanning the horizon and shading her eyes with the palm of her hand, while she looks ready for battle as her right hand rests on the pistol in her belt. Her proud posture looks truly imposing in the midst of the seaside square, against the backdrop of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.

The Museum of Bouboulina is located in proximity to her statue.
