Poros Villages: Askeli village in Poros Askeli Village Poros: Located in the promontory that joins Sferia with Kalavria, Askeli is a village built around the Progymnastirio which was the first residence of King Othon, where is located today the naval station and the sailors training academy of Poros, established by King Othon in 1846. After the Progymnastirio, a small canal joins Sferia to Kalavria. The village of Askeli consists in neoclassical buildings, modelled according to the summer palace of King Othon, designed by the Danish architect, Hans Christian Hansen. Askeli is surrounded by two sandy beaches and offers rooms and apartments for rent, hotels, cafes, taverns and a few shops.
