The Municipal Museum of the Holocaust

The Municipal Museum of the Holocaust is the single most important museum in the town of Kalavrita. Located within the town, it is housed in the schoolhouse building which during the incident on December 13th, 1943 had held the women, the children and the elderly captive. Built in neo-classical architectural style, it was formed according to the very first state program in 1895 for the erection of school buildings.

The school, which was burnt down during the German occupation, was rebuilt and reopened in 1955. In 1986, the school was classified as a historical monument and it was converted into the Municipal Museum of the Holocaust.

People interested in the history of Kalavrita have to visit this museum, where the most interesting historical material is collected and displayed
