Sami Kefalonia: Sami village in the island of Kefalonia, Greece, Ionian

The little town of Sami is located in an area of incredible beauty created by impressive hills and some astonishing beaches.

Some very interesting monasteries are located in the area of the village, like the monastery of Agrilia, as well as beautiful caves (like Karavomylos and Dragati), some stunning underground lakes like the one at Melissani and many beautiful and picturesque villages.

During summer, the municipality of Sami organises some interesting cultural events such as concerts and theatrical performances.

Our Impressions:

There is a fair bit of tourism here and the village is also quite busy because of the boats that leave for Italy and Patra among other destinations. The port is not particularly noteworthy but there are a number of restaurants nearby. The main street contains many of the amenities that tourists seek. A very modern church lies just outside the centre. Just to the west is a dirty stretch of sand and stones which is not much of a beach but offers a good view of Ithaka.

Sami perhaps has most to offer in the sights that surround it: the caves and Antisamos Beach.
