The patron saint of Katalako village is Agios Modestos, and a church for him was constructed in 1856. Agios Modestos protects the stock breeders and their cattle. A much celebrated festival is the name day of Agios Modestos, which is on the 18th of December. On this day the stock breeders wear white breeches, leather shoes – called ‘tservoulia’ – and a white cap and perform local dances such as the patma or kehagiadikos.
An important beach located just 4 kilometers from the village is Gomati beach, known for its sandy shore. There are many monasteries near this area and one of them, Theomitoros Monastery was inhabited till 1928 by a monk. Some other attractions in the village include the ruins of a Byzantine castle, some good fishing spots near the beach and much more. Many accommodation options are available to visitors, and in summer the village gets quite crowded with tourists.
