Amorgos Church of Panagia Epanochoriani

Location: Lagada

Located right outside the village of Lagada, the Church of Panagia Epanochoriani in Amorgos is characterized by its white and light-blue colors and beautiful three-arch design! This church is made out of stone and features a dome and a bell tower right above its main entrance while boasting fantastic views of the sunset!

Its whitewashed interior walls host a handful of relatively new icons alongside beautiful, heavily faded icons and frescoes! On top of that, visitors will spot a couple of gilded candelabras, a very small iconostasis, and a stripped-down golden chandelier, whereas the dome showcases an icon of Jesus with a distinct light-blue background!

The Church of Panagia Epanochoriani hosts an annual festival during the high summer season on the 14th and 15th of August! If you reach the church on that day, you will have the opportunity to enjoy local spirits, live music, dances, and traditional meals, such as patatato, kofto, xidato, and chickpeas!
