Such a lovely chapel in Amorgos is the church of Agios Georgios Valsamitis, on the southern side of the island. Built in the 17th century, this small church is a dependency of Hozoviotissa Monastery. Located about 4,5 km south of Chora, on the way to Kamari and Arkesini, Agios Georgios Valsamitis stands on top of a hill, overlooking the valley beneath and the sea.
The chapel is white-washed and has a paved courtyard. Inside, the atmosphere is so solemn, with beautiful icons and a lovely iconostasis. It is a three-aisled basilica with an arched roof and a tall bell tower. Next to the church, there is an old watermill.
