Description: If you follow a path down from the Monastery of Preveli, you will find the amazing Preveli lake. This is where Kourtaliotikos river flows its waters and the lake is surrounded by pine-trees. You can swim in the crystal waters of the lake and enjoy its waterfalls.

Description: This Monastery is the symbol of the Cretan fight for independence. Many fights between the Cretans and the Turks had been held around the Monastery. In November 1866, many people asked for refugee there to get away from the Turks and they finally exploded themselves, when the enemies got into the monastery yard.

Location: The cave of Ideon Andron is 22 km to the south-west of Rethymno, at Nida plateau, while the cave of Sfentoni is 13 km to the north-west of Anogia village.
Description: The myth says that Zeus was born and raised in the cave of Ideon Andron. Archaeological research has shown that this cave used to be a centre of worship. The cave of Sfentoni is equally famous. Its 14 chambers have interesting stalactites formations. |
