Kourtaliotiko Gorge is located in Rethymno region and it is 3 kilometres long.
It is one of the most impressive places in Crete to go hiking, with dense vegetation, caves, enormous rock formations enclosing a river and Kourtaliotis waterfall, as well as ponds where you can swim.
Walking along the gorge, you will come across an old stone-built bridge which you can cross and continue hiking until you reach Preveli beach.
Being the natural habitat of many kinds of birds of prey and other species of fauna and flora, the gorge is extremely important to the local biodiversity.
Expect hiking to last about 4 hours.
