Casa Parlante in Corfu
Information about Casa Parlante in Corfu Town, Corfu island Greece: Casa Parlante is a very special museum in the center of Corfu Old Town, few meters from Liston Paved Avenue and Spianada Square. Housed in a 19th-century noble mansion, this museum first opened to the public in March 2014. With animated figures and old furniture, this museum actually presents the daily life of a noble family living in Corfu during the 19th century.
Entering this living history museum, visitors enter the world of a Count, a Countess, their children and all the family and servants living in the mansion. In the 19th century, Corfu had been greatly influenced by the Venetian, French, and British that had conquered the island in the past and had contributed a lot to the formation of the local culture. In fact, over centuries Corfu became the intellectual and cultural center of the Ionian islands, while trade, economy, and arts also flourished.
With animated figures of robotic technology, absolute representation of internal decoration, old furniture, clothing of those times, sounds and smells, Casa Parlante depicts family life of that era: there is the Count reading the newspaper, the Countess welcoming guests for tea, children playing music, the cook cooking at the kitchen and other scenes of the 19th century daily life.
