The Kapodistrias Museum of Corfu is a space fully dedicated to the life and the heritage of the first governor of modern Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, a highly-regarded European politician and a staple of the Greek State. Hosted in the old countryside estate of Koukouritsa (one that belonged to the Kapodistrias Family) near the village of Evropouli, the museum attracts visitors and immerses them into the life and actions of Kapodistrias, starting from his early childhood years, up until his 1831 assassination in Nafplio.

The majestic Kapodistrias Museum (also the Centre of Kapodistrian Studies) showcases important documents and artifacts of wide historical interest, including a well-organized digital archive and a permanent exhibition about the progression of his political career, his public life, his family surroundings, and his educational background. Also, the museum frequently hosts educational programs for school kids and large groups of visitors, encouraging everybody to learn more about museum work, the history of Modern Greece, and the life and work of Ioannis Kapodistrias!

The estate of Koukouritsa was chosen by Kapodistrias’ great-granddaughter, Maria Kapodistria Desylla (ex-mayor of Corfu from 1956 to 1959), to be the one hosting a museum about the legacy of Ioannis Capodistrias! It features a gorgeous hilltop garden (with rich flora and fantastic landscape views), a place one may visit to enjoy the al fresco Museum Cafe or a cultural event in the summertime! Moreover, one may find the museum’s gift shop of use, offering various souvenirs, publications, prints, and accessories for sale.
