Zagori Mountain Running 2023
The 12th annual Zagori Mountain Running, a boundary-pushing event celebrating the art of running and hiking, will be taking place from the 21st of July up until the 23rd of July, 2023! Providing immaculate views over the region of Epirus and the beautiful lakes of Aoos and Pamvotida, Zagori Mountain Running 2023 in the mountainside of Tymfi will be a unique experience for every participant!
Five running races will be taking place, and each race’s starting point is the picturesque village of Tsepelovo. The debilitating yet rewarding 80-kilometer TeRA race is one for the strong-willed since it is an extended circular route around Zagori with varied heights! Furthermore, the 44-kilometer Marathon+ is another heavy-hitter, being another rock-filled route with different heights along the way, passing through the stunning Megalo Papigko and the Loutsa Robozi lake!
Plus, the 21km Half-Marathon and the 10km Entry Race, both starting in the early morning hours of Sunday the 23rd, are two fantastic choices for anyone looking to start the hobby of mountain running! With significantly smaller height differences throughout the race, the half marathon and the entry race still offer great exercise for any challenger! Finally, let us not forget about the Zagoraki M.R., a children’s 1-kilometer-long running race in the village of Tsepelovo (fit for kids aged 3-12), where every young participant receives a collectible Mountain Running t-shirt and a commemorative medal!
All participants of Zagori Mountain Running 2023 will receive a bib number and have their photos taken upon agreement, whereas they will all have access to water, juices, and isotonic drinks in plenty of refreshment spots throughout the races. Also, medical help will be available throughout the race, as well as after the race ends, and whoever finishes will get a race medal, along with a certificate with their finishing time! TeRA and Marathon+ runners will also be handed two meals (one before and one after the race), while anyone looking for a short-lived stay in Zagori can ask the event staff for the available accommodation.
