There are ferries to Ikaria from Piraeus, the largest port of Athens, 3 times a week. Due to the large distance and the many stopovers, the ferry trip is long and lasts about 11 hours. These ferries also connect Ikaria with other Greek islands, including Samos, Syros, Mykonos, Chios and more.
In summer, there are also ferries to Ikaria from Kavala, a port town in northern Greece, as well as daily local boats to Ikaria from Fourni island or Vathi port in Samos island. These boats carry only passengers (while normal ferries also carry motorbikes and cars) and the trip lasts about 1 hour.
