Aloni in Leros
Next to the sea with the breeze and the sound of waves, at the place where our father built his ALONI (threshing floor), 50 years ago, for the threshing of wheat and barley, we built for you our own ALONI.
In our warm family environment you can enjoy our homemade meals, which are made with care and fresh pure ingredients. You can enjoy our specialties and taste our salads made by our own home-grown vegetables and olive-oil. You can also enjoy a variety of fresh seafood and choose from a selection of Greek wine or ouzo.

We discovered Aloni in Ksirokambos (also known as Xerokambos or Xerokampos) when trying to find a sheltered spot on Leros when a strong northerly wind had sprung up. After one lovely day there on Aloni's sunbeds (comlimentary for customers, we had lunch there), we enjoyed it so much we dragged our four friends there on the bus the next day.
Aloni is a family-run taverna (we were served by different daughters of the family on the different days) with lots of good quality traditional dishes. We would particularly recommend the meatballs, make sure you squeeze some of the lemon juice onto them and they are excellent. Other than small boats going back and forth to yachts for those coming to Aloni for lunch, the bay is very peaceful with a gently shelving beach, albeit fairly sea-weedy underwater (but not on the beach).
And finally we must mention the dog at Aloni, possibly a spoodle (spaniel/poodle cross?). Unlike the cats throughout Greece, it was not really interested in the food, it just wanted stroking. Lovely and friendly as it waddled around with its wagging tail.
