The island of Kalymnos has many small shops run by families, such as supermarkets, traditional bakeries, pastry shops and other shops selling all the specialities of Kalymnos like the pies, the delicious honey, the famous sponges, the fresh fruits, wine and more.

Other shops are proposing all the needed equipment for fishing, sailing, snorkelling, sun bathing as well as cosmetics, jewels, clothes, shoes, CDs and international and national newspapers, magazines and books.

Souvenir shops can be found all around the capital of the island as well as in the touristy resort of Massouri and Panormos. Those shops are selling various items among which visitors will find sponges, household and personal objects. Leather goods, craft ceramics, woven rugs, icons, linen and lace, sculptures and paintings, spirits, wild herbs and spices and much more.

The main road and tiny side streets of Pothia are particularly rich in terms of shopping and are full of lovely shops proposing a wide range of goods from local products to religious accessories, traditional weeding dresses and craft items.

Shops are opened from 9 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm. They close earlier on Wednesday and Saturday. In the touristy resorts, most of the shops are staying open until midnight and are not closing during midday.
