The 3rd annual Syros International Film Festival will be hosted in Ermoupolis, the capital town of Syros island, from July 3rd to 12th, 2015. This great event draws attention on recent Greek and international independent films and highlights the natural beauty, rich history and culture of Syros island.
Syros International Film Festival(SIFF) started in 2013 and aims at presenting Greek and foreign films marginalised in mainstream festivals, achieving successful communication between the local and the international film industry, and promoting Greek cinema.
This year's festival will include competition sections with films of several genres and types, among which are documentary, experimental, hybrids, multimedia, narrative fiction and student films, thematic screenings and workshops. Parallel talks and exhibitions will also take place.
The festival will also present for the first time an avant-garde audiovisual arts residency, housed at the Monastery of Ano Syros. Syros International Film Festival and students from the University of the Aegean have also cooperated in creating an interactive map, with various locations of Syros used in screenings. Screenings and events of the festival will take place in various venues around the island.
