Location: Oia

Santorini, just like the rest of the Cycladic islands, is windy. During the old times, inhabitants built windmills to take advantage of the wind and use it to grind and produce flour. The famous windmill of Oia is one of the top signature landmarks in Santorini, adding an extra charm to the picturesque landscape & appearing in thousands of pictures taken by visitors from all around the world.

Although the windmill is no longer functional, it is well-preserved & acts as a reminder of the island’s past.

A few restaurants, bars & accommodation facilities are located near the imposing windmill of Oia, which faces the Aegean & can easily be spotted from a distance. The place offers some of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.
