Lassithi Tholos beach

General information

The beach of Tholos lies 26 km east of Agios Nikolaos and 4 km north of the Kavousi village. The area is ideal for quiet family holidays, while the closest tourist resort is Pahia Ammos, where there are plenty of available rental facilities.

Tholos is a large bay strewn with sand and pebbles, while its pristine waters take on a variety of lovely hues. As it is not much protected from strong winds, it gets frequently affected by the summer meltemia in August, but the picturesque Pseira islet, with its lovely beaches and Minoan antiquities, somewhat breaks the force of the waves. The beach is not organized, but there are enough tamarisks to offer visitors some natural shade.

Through a path from Tholos, visitors can also see the Mesonas Gorge and the Minoan copper mines of Chrissokaminos.
