Deinotherium giganteum in Natural History Museum

The largest Deinotherium giganteum that ever lived in Crete will be displayed in the Natural History Museum of Heraklion Crete. The representation of this impressive Deinotherium, the largest that ever lived in Crete, will be of natural size and characteristics. Dutch Aart Walen is responsible for the construction of the exhibit, which has already started in the interiors of the Natural History Museum. In fact, visitors can see the construction of this representation during the working hours of the museum, as people will work in the exhibitional rooms of the museum. It is estimated that the wild animal will reach 5 m in height and 7m in width, so its dimensions will really be of natural size! Visitors, of course, can watch not only the construction of this representation but they will also have the chance to tour around the rooms of the museum, see the exhibition with the living animals and the unique in Greece room with earthquake simulations. The Natural History Museum is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm, closed on Monday. It is located at Sofokli Venizelou street, Heraklion town.
