Chania Rock Festival 2023

The acclaimed annual Chania Rock Festival, hosting world-renowned acts in rock, blues, and metal music since 2002, will again take place on the 29th and 30th of July 2023 at Chania’s East Moat Theater! The Chania Rock Festival of 2023 will be filled with energetic, powerful music groups from all over the globe!

The festival’s 1st day will be a celebration of international and internationally-known local legends. Headliners of Chania Rock Festival 2023 will be the British doom/death metal giants Paradise Lost, performing at Chania Rock Festival for the second time in their career! In addition, the 1st day includes Geoff Tate (of Queensryche fame), performing a compilation of his best hits and the entirety of 1988 masterpiece, Operation: Mindcrime, as well as Sakis Tolis, the frontman of Greece’s most well-known metal band, Rotting Christ!

The 2nd day of the Chania Rock Festival will host Greek rock supergroups and up-and-coming artists! The ones leading the show will be Pavlos Pavlidis and his surrounding musicians, Hotel Alaska, whereas the famous rock duo Kitrina Podilata and the Chania-based rock group Hemingways are guaranteed to steal the show!

Furthermore, it is to be noted that the first band of the Chania Rock Festival Day 1 has been chosen through an online contest, and it is the progressive folk metal Passengers in Panic!

The yearly Chania Rock Festival has housed plenty of important music acts throughout its 30-year-long duration, most notably alternative rock sweethearts Anathema, German thrash metal pioneers Kreator and Destruction, the groovy Soulfly of Max Cavalera, gothic rock/new wave titans Sisters of Mercy, as well as Greek bands and artists, including Planet of Zeus, Giannis Aggelakas and the 100°C, and folk icon Psarantonis!
