Athens third among best European cities

Athens is officially one of the best European destinations for holidays or city breaks! Athens, the capital of Greece, has gained the 3rd position in the online poll established by the organization Best European Destination for 2015. Athens competed along with 20 other selected destinations for 3 weeks and totally received 28,184 votes, taking the third place in the rank. Bordeaux in France won the prestigious title, followed by Lisbon in Portugal that came second.

The European Best Destinations is a travel organization based in Brussels. It has been formed and developed with a goal: to promote the culture and tourist activity of European countries. By entering this year's poll, Athens has been highlighted as both a holiday destination and a cultural centre.

Athens is ideal for holidays, as it combines modern urban scenery with history, culture and natural beauty.
