The Smashing Pumpkins Live in Athens
Headlining a day of the annual Plisskën Festival of Athens, rock group The Smashing Pumpkins will visit the city as part of their worldwide tour, The World Is A Vampire, for a concert at the Peace and Friendship Stadium!
The Chicago-based alternative rock legends, led by frontman and only consistent member Billy Corgan, have offered a blend of rock subgenres, including psychedelic rock, hard rock, shoegaze, and grunge, since their debut LP in 1991! Shaping the sound of music for decades to come, The Smashing Pumpkins are a huge influence amongst rock listeners, mainly due to their unique songwriting and catchy hooks! Despite their inner turmoil, causing the band to break up in late 2000, they reunited in 2006 and have stayed at the top of their game ever since!
The Smashing Pumpkins have released a total of twelve studio albums to this day, whereas they first broke out with their six-album run during the 90s, namely Gish (1991), Adore (1998), Machina/The Machines of God (2000), Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music (2000), as well as their crown jewels Siamese Dream (1993) and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995)! Having sold over 30 million album copies worldwide, the Grammy-awarded group is best known for their chart-topping hit songs 1979, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Mayonnaise, Soma, Disarm, and Tonight, Tonight!
