Jun 30, 2011 — Jul 04, 2011 • Category: Events
The 3rd International Street Theatre Festival is a fact. The festival will be held around the historical centre of Athens and the Acropolis. These areas are Syntagma square, Kalimarmaro Stadium, Ermou street, Kapnikarea square, Monastiraki square, Asomaton square in Thission, Apostolou Pavlou, Koumoundourou square, Kerameikos square in Technopolis and Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation. From Thursday June 30 to Monday, July 4 the Athenian audience will have the chance to see theatrical plays and dance shows, puppet show, music bands, art demonstrations, children plays and other events. Similar to previous years, the festival will include two stages.

The Main stage will host artists from Greece and from abroad, while in the Open Stage the number of the participants is infinite. Anyone who wants to show their work in public, in any form of art can join the festival. Most importantly, the festival will make a tribute to the late Thanasis Vegos, one of the most charismatic Greek actors. This year's festival is dedicated to the unknown street performers while for the first time Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation will be the host of the Art Market, where several teams and artists will present their work through a visual program with photos and videos as well as shows and plays.
