1st Short Film Festival of the Municipality of Peristeri

The 1st Short Film Festival is now a reality! Under the initiative of the Municipality of Peristeri and in coordination with local creative teams and workshops, the festival will be celebrating its first launching in the heart of Athens. The festival will be taking place in the Cultural Center of the Town Hall of Peristeri from the 19th until the 22nd of May. Peristeri is reachable with the metro or the bus from all central areas of Athens.
The initiative carries significant value for the area as well as for the moving culture of Athens, which in the midst of a financial and moral crisis manages to launch events which involve and most importantly give a voice to new amateur artists and creatives.
The inauguration of the festival is on the 19th of May and it will be starting with a speech from the mayor of the Municipality which will be followed by a screening of the experimental movie “Protaprilia” (April Fool’s Day) by the Creative Cinema Workshop of the Municipality of Peristeri.
In general, the festival will be including 52 movies both fiction and documentaries while the thematology of the festival will be varied with many short film participations from many cities of Greece.
Screenings will be shown both in the morning and evening while on Sunday the screening of the award-winning films by Camera Zizanio will be held. Most importantly, there will be participations from different age groups and from young creatives who will be exposing their work through the various creative teams that partake in the festival. At the end of the festival, a prize will be awarded to the best film.
The festival provides the chance to children and young pioneers to express themselves and immerse themselves into the magical world of filmmaking. The initiative is also a very important opportunity for all cinephiles who need to escape from the everyday hectic rhythms and enjoy a different event in the heart of the city.
