Like in every part
of Greece, various religious festivities are celebrated
on Hydra. Every saint and church of the same name has
its own feast day celebrated by religious ceremonies
and followed by a big feast with dances, traditional
music, food and drinks until dawn.
As a cosmopolitan and art friendly island, Hydra offers
also various cultural events.
Here are some of the most important religious festivities
and non-religious local events organised on Hydra.

August
15th
Like in every part of Greece, the Assumption of the Virgin
Mary is celebrated also on Hydra where a religious ceremony
is held in the central church of the Assumption (Kimissis
tis Theotokou), followed by a great feast with traditional
music and dances and local wine and food.
November 14th
On this day a feast is held to commemorate and celebrate
the Marty Saint Constantine (Agios Konstantinos) of Hydra. |

The
Summer Cultural Festival
Organized by the municipal cultural office, the Summer
Cultural Festival takes place during the middle of July
until the middle of August and consist of various art
shows, dance performances and recitals. Moreover, the International Puppet Festival is held in the mid July, with great success.
