Hydra Port

In brief, the port of Hydra is the main and only port on the island. It is located in Hydra Town and visitors can reach it or leave it only on foot. Also, many accommodations are located in proximity to it.

The port of Hydra Island (port code: GRHYD) is located in Hydra Town, the island’s cosmopolitan capital! Facing north towards the southeastern part of Argolis, it is one of the most picturesque ports in all of Greece, given that it leads to Hydra’s gorgeous Town and hosts an abundance of small fishing boats and large yachts along its harbor!

The port and the promenade are even considered attractions! After disembarking the ferries, visitors encounter the island’s fantastic stone-paved streets, as well as its majestic, traditional-style buildings that boast unique designs made out of stones and bricks.

Hydra Port has direct ferry connections to the port of Piraeus in Athens, the islands of Spetses, Poros, and Aegina (Agia Marina Port), and the areas of Porto Heli and Ermioni in the Peloponnese. It also connects Hydra Town with the villages of Vlichos, Molos, and Mandraki via water taxi.

How to get there

There is no public transport on the island since wheeled vehicles are prohibited.
The only options for moving across Hydra are on foot and by water taxi (whenever possible).
