car
If you want to drive from Athens to Sparti, you first take the National Highway from Athens to Corinth. After you pass the Corinth Canal, you follow the signs to Tripoli, about 2 and a half hours away from Athens. The road to Tripoli is safe and wide. In Tripoli, you take the road to Sparti, another hour away. However, this road is rural and windy, so more attention is required. The road from Tripoli to Sparti passes through the countryside and crosses beautiful villages. The overall distance from Athens to Sparti is 225 km and the trip takes about 3 and a half to 4 hours.

bus
You can also go to Sparti by bus from Athens, or others Greek towns. There are KTEL coaches making this trip about 5 times daily. They depart from the bus terminal located in 100, Kifissou St., and the trip takes about four hours. Tickets can be bought at the bus station before the departure.
