All kind of beaches can be found in Gythio: pebbled and sandy, popular or isolate, with tourist amenities or unorganized at all. The most famous beach is Mavrovouni, a couple of km from Gythio. However, there are also plenty of other beaches more far away, equally picturesque and less crowded.

Description: This is the most crowded and organized beach close to Gythio. It has a lot of tourist facilities and different kind of watersports.

Description: This beach is famous for the rusty ship that lies ashore. Note that the caretta-caretta sea turtle goes there in summer to lay its eggs.

Description: Ageranos is a nice long beach with crystal water. It gets pretty popular in summer.

Description: This beach gets windy sometimes and provides a nice spot for windsurfing and other watersports.

Description: This is a calm beach with crystal water. There is a beach bar on the shore and a small church of Agia Varvara.

Description: This is a relaxing beach on the southern side of Gythio, more calm than other beaches in the area.

Description: This beach has no tourist facilities, so it provides a lovely and isolate spot to relax.
