You can find any kind of beaches in Gythio. There are pebbled and sandy beaches, popular or isolate, with tourist amenities or not organized at all. The most famous beach is Mavrovouni, a couple of km from Gythio. However, there are also plenty of other beaches more far away, equally picturesque and less crowded.

Mavrovouni

Location: Located 2 km from Gythio
Description: This is the most crowded and organized beach close to Gythio town. It has a lot of tourist facilities and you can practise different kind of watersports.

Selinitsa

Location: Located 2 km from Gythio
Description: This beach is famous for the rusty ship that lies ashore. Note that the caretta-caretta sea turtle goes there in summer to lay its eggs.

Trinisa

Location: Located 7 km to the north of Gythio
Description: Its name means "three islands". The coastline is sandy but the beach often gets affected by the winds.

Description: This is one of the most picturesque beaches surrounding Gythio. It is well organized and sandy, so it usually attracts a lot of people.

Description: This small and narrow beach doesn't usually get crowded. It has no tourist amenities and the seafloor is pebbled.

Description: It is neither organized nor particularly popular. This makes it quiet and relaxing. The seashore is sandy and the water is clear.
