Zakynthos Agios Leon Village

Agios Leon Zakynthos: Agios Leon is a small village located 24 km west of Zakynthos Town. You will pass through this village following the western road from Volimes to Maherado. With narrow streets and red tiled roofs, Agios Leon has kept its traditional architecture. The surrounding nature is pure and nice for trekking. In close distance to secluded beaches on the western side of Zakynthos, this is a place to discover the non-tourist aspect of the island. The village took its name from the 14th century church of Agios Leon that is found there.

With very narrow streets Agios Leon has kept its traditional architecture. The surrounding nature - especially towards the west coast of the island is pure and untouched which makes it a nice area for trekking. Walking towards Porto Limnionas and Porto Roxa is rewarded with astonishing views and a hugh number of flowers (in the right season). As for many areas in this region of the island every few years wildfires may destroy some of the beauty of nature. It will then take another 2 to 3 years before the landscapes start getting back their original colours.
