The traditional architecture of Lemnos can be admired at its best in the capital of the island, Myrina.
The architectural style of the island consists in houses, captain’s residences and two or three-storied mansions made of heavy stones, built according to the neoclassical style.
Those beautiful buildings have wooden balconies and slate or tiled roofs.

Imposing 19th century Ottoman mansions with overhanging wooden balconies, narrow stone and pebble paved streets and alleyways and the ruins of a Venetian castle blend to the above mentioned style of architecture.
The best of the architecture of Lemnos can be seen in the capital and in the picturesque village of Kaspakas. |
