Tall, thick walls with fortifying towers and ramparts still surround the monastery. Those walls are built according to the Byzantine architectural style.
Stone stairs lead to the impressive and heavy gate.
The yard is beautifully decorated by pebbles and has, in its centre, a well with holy water. An arch with four curves and various frescoes depicting the miracles performed by Saint John is dominating the eastern side of the monastery.
Ten chapels are standing in the monastery, among which is the chapel of Agioi Apostoloi, where the relics of the Reverent Father Christodoulos are kept. Also, the Convent of Zoodochos Pigi, which was founded by the monk Parthenios Pankosta, under the patriarch Timothy the 2nd is located southwest of the Monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos.
It is a beautiful domed chapel built in 1603. Another element of the monastery is the Chamber used by the monks as a meeting place and which is located along the cells. |

The rock that the saint used as a pillow can be seen as well as the triple fissure in the roof which is supposed to symbolise the Holy Trinity and from where the voice of God supposedly came from when he talked to Saint John.
