Halki Festivals, Greece: Information about the Festivals of Halki, Dodecanese

There are many religious festivals in Halki that the locals celebrate with much enthusiasm and devotion.

The most important religious festivals are of Agios Ioannis Alarga on August 29th, of the Holy Cross on September 14th and of the Archangel Micheal on November 8th.

Another notable festival is the celebration of Saint George on April 23rd in the close islet of Alimia. A small chapel dedicated to Saint George has been constructed on Alimia and every year the locals go there by boat to perform a Holy Mass in this little church.

In early September, many cultural events also take place as part of the international gathering of the young people from around the world.

These events include musical concerts of local and foreign artists, theatrical performances and dancing.
