International Festival of the Aegean 2014

Jul 06, 2014 — Jul 19, 2014 • Category: Events

This year the International Festival of the Aegean enters its tenth session and, once again, it attracts world-class musicians, dancers and actors from various countries to perform on the beautiful island of Syros in the Aegean Sea. Founded and directed by the acknowledged orchestra conductor Peter Tiboris, the Festival of the Aegean organizes performances in various venues in Hermoupolis, the capital town of the island, including the historical Apollo Theatre, Miaouli Square and the Orthodox Church of Saint Nicolas.
Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Apollo Theatre since the first time it ever hosted a performance in 1864, the festival premiere will be Verdi's Rigoletto presented at the scene of Apollo Theatre, in commemoration of the first performance there. The program includes nights of symphonic and chamber music, jazz concerts, opera gala, music performances with works of Puccini in Miaouli Square, and more. Events will take place from July 6th to 19th, 2014.
